Meredith College Improves Waistlines and Corporate Bottom Line with Know Your Number® Advanced health risk assessment seen as prescription for controlling health care costs

Research Triangle Park, N.C. – BioSignia, a leading technology company bringing health assessment solutions to the preventive healthcare market, today announced its Know Your Number technology has helped Meredith College improve participation in its employee health programs and control healthcare costs as part of Meredith’s WOW! (Working on Wellness at Work!) program. Meredith College is the Southeast’s largest private women’s college.

Susan Drury-Rohner, Assistant Professor and Faculty-Staff Wellness Coordinator, calls Know Your Number a key component of Meredith’s WOW wellness program. “Our focus is not only on controlling health care costs but also to improve our employees’ health,” says Drury-Rohner. “We can achieve all of those goals by identifying and addressing a health issue before it becomes a crisis.” When negotiating with their healthcare benefit provider, Meredith was able to present results from the WOW program and Know Your Number to help keep premium increases down.

How it Works
Know Your Number takes a person’s unique health information including weight, blood pressure, lifestyle habits, family health history, and recent lab work with glucose and cholesterol levels. Behind the scenes, BioSignia’ patented technology, called Synthesis Analysis, evaluates the data and produces a confidential health report including risk assessment of the nation's biggest disease killers; diabetes, stroke and heart disease. It then maps out exactly how to reduce those unique risk factors.

Growing Interest
BioSignia reports companies large and small are inquiring about incorporating Know Your Number into their employee wellness program. CEO John Williams says while individual results are confidential, the aggregated and de-identified information allows companies to prioritize the top risk factors within their work force and address the actual health needs of their employees.

“Employers looking to control healthcare spending are discovering they can’t manage what they don’t measure,” says John Williams, CEO of BioSignia. “Because preventable health problems cost employers in lost productivity and absenteeism, companies need the data showing the prevalence of health risks and chronic conditions within the workforce to manage the health of its workers and control the costs of health care. Know Your Number provides that information and we are excited that our technology is an important component of Meredith’s wellness program.
